Statesville, the county seat, and Mooresville, in southern Iredell, are easily accessible to the largest man-made lake in North Carolina, Lake Norman, with its water recreation and golf courses. With three interstates converging on us, we’re an easy ride to anywhere.

Statesville is a mixture of big, colorful hot air balloons and history. The Carolina BalloonFest, scheduled for the third weekend of October, draws 40,000 visitors and fills the skies with color – and fun. It’s been going strong for nearly 50 years, and each year, the festival donates a portion of profits to community charities, under the slogan: “We rise so others may soar.”

Fort Dobbs State Park in Statesville is a reminder of frontier defense of the 18^th century, protecting citizens during the French and Indian War, while Lake Norman State Park is a popular mountain biking network with 30.5 miles of single-track trail and a popular beach.

Mooresville is known as Race City USA to honor the many NASCAR racing teams and drivers who live here, as well an Indy Car team and its drivers and racing technology suppliers. You’ll find auto museums, a world-class go-cart motorplex, and plenty of locally brewed beer.

Wineries also are located throughout the area. You’ll find Wine Walks and Art Crawls.
